Spiced plums with yogurt

1 cup (125 cups) water
1/2 cup (125m) orange juice
1/3 cup (75g) caster sugar
5cm strip orange rind
2 star anise
4 cloves
1 teaspoon mixed spice
1 cinnamon stick
1 vanilla bean, split lengthways
8 blood plums (900g), unpeeled
1 1/3 cups (375g) fat free yogurt
1 Place the water, juice, sugar, rind and spices in medium frying pan. Scrape vanilla seeds into pan then add the pod of each, cook, mix, stirring until sugar dissolves.
2 Add plums to pan; poach, uncovered, over low heat about 10 minutes or until just tender. Using slotted spoon, place two plums in each of four serving dishes (reserve 2 tablespoons of the poaching liquid). Cool plums 20 minutes.
3 Combine yogurt and reserved poaching liquid in small bowl; serve with plums
